Innocent Eyes
By felicity0444
In this dark world
Where light seems so strangled,
An invisible burden
encases and crushes you.
Weighing nothing but air,
Yet as substantial as the world,
It dims the glimmer and
Corrodes the mind.
Unable to see the
Sun around you,
The soul fades and blurs.
Â
One simple question
From innocent eyes
touches your heart
and opens you wide.
The answers you give
Are Straight from within
Full of meaning and love
And absent of sin.
From your words
to their hearts
Their Bashful eyes shine.
Smiling souls
Beam back at you
Clearing your mind.
Thoughts in motion
Learning the world.
Looking at you
Their very first love.

A pleasantly hopeful piece (?) (I'm very skeptical about any glimmer of hope for the world in my lifetime). I can relate to your perception of your interpretation of life. Nice write :)

This piece was inspired by an innocent question by my 3 year old actually. See his view of the world is still innocent and pure. Sometimes it takes a powerful reminder (and a love so pure as a sons for his mom) too see hope again. ;) Glad you enjoyed it!
