Down the Rabbit Hole
By JayVerael
Reach in past the rabbit hole
Flying chairs, broken cogs, upturned tables and
Empty bowls
What awaits you is a Wonderland
Birthed from the imagination
A nightmare of a dead man
A dream to a child’s eye
The cards you’ve been given
A flush of spares and hearts that
Aces crown the villain
Only mock you in their deck
No king upon the chess board
A game of knights and Queen
Demanding you to bare your neck
Wrapped in a crimson so terrifying
No blood could ever compare to the
Hue of murderous marvel, horrifying
Yet we toast over a patchwork table
For there is always time for tea
And never time for that grim fable.

I liked this one very much! The poem itself was good, but I think it was especially witty how the words form the image of a chess piece. Great one! Ciao, T/S
