Through the Monsoon

By WillowGreybird

The sky has gathered,
deep violet clouds come together
to conceal a jaded moon.

And here we are,
just the two of us.

I want to ride the tempest.

Gentle kisses,
unsure of their place and time
fall in time with the rain.

Thunder cannot silence
the tattoo of our heartbeats,

sounding together in frenzied passion.

There is urgency
beneath the kindness,
waiting for a break in the wind outside our window.

The tender loving care fades quietly away
to become something primal.

Something dark.

Bodies writhing in tandem,
the restless night broken only
by a flash of lightning.

The storm went on,
long after we had fallen to a sleepy haze,

with sensual daydreams to sate us through the monsoon.
