Heather's Song
By ToxicRedhead
Harlot, Jezebel, homewrecker, whore - these words
Buzz from all directions and land with a sting
Stolen moments at the dark end of the street-
You choose so much less than you deserve
Poor self-esteem craves love and affection
Where your own husband shows none
So desperate to be loved that you will settle
For being someone's momentary fling
Your blind eyes cannot see that you mean
Nothing to the one that means so much to you
She gets it all - his nights, his weekends, his home,
His name, his love - you get desperately lonely nights
You will never find what you really need
In the poisoned bed of a married man
What man is going to leave his secure life for
An emotional and moral trainwreck?
Keep convincing yourself that these are
Not the worst days of your life
And by the way, victims do not inflict pain on
others - And you are not the victim here
Just like Sappho, an honest true love should not be
sealed up in tablets for none to read
Why are you wasting your time missing someone
Who doesn't bother to miss you back?

So rarely I read something that truely feels real and not exaggerated or forced. I hope to read more soon.

This was well written. I really liked the way you structured this. It makes it hit that much harder.
