Demons in the Wind
By lshidonil
She pulls her beanie over her ears,
the wind taunting and teasing us.
We lace our fingers together,
despite the cold.
The silence is powerful,
between her hands
and mine.
The cool winter breeze,
seems to be pulling her
away from me.
Demons whisper in her ear
and the dark runs with fear.
The flame is fighting the wind,
like my struggles to keep her.
She tells me, my frustrations are wasted on a lost cause,
but I know
it's just the demons in the wind.
I fight with them too,
and the struggle not to cave in
As soon as I did-
let the demons win,
I lost her too.
And now,
all that remains
is ash and pain,
reminding me not to listen to the demons in the wind.

The truest of loves scream louder than demons could ever whisper. Amazing poem.
