Falling Further

I just want you to see,
to look past my mask,
to really understand.

I know I take cover in the dark,
while you stand bathed in the light,
but I've found,
you can see the light better in the dark.

Though my darkness sometimes becomes a raging storm,
I'm still here.

My arms are opened wide,
and my eyes filled with tears.
I find you only turning away.

And with each day,
you take another step away,
while my heart takes another stab of pain.

Yet,
I won't stop you,
because I know that it is for the best.

Yet, I can't let go,
I find myself only falling further.
