I can't help but smile

By Khyleria

A longing to take your hand in mine
To hold you close, even for a short time
Just one small kiss, a desperate wish
A gentle touch that I might cherish

An evening stroll gone hand in hand
Leaving impressions in the sand
A moonlit walk through winter's glow
And leave our footprints in the snow

You make me laugh when all else seems blue
Open my eyes that I might see true
Banish away all the demons and fears
Wipe away any lingering tears

When I see your face my heart skips a beat
I can't wait for the day that we might meet
Though we may not be together for a while
Whenever I think of you, I can't help but smile

Lovely imagery, I especially enjoy the impressions left in the sand and snow. The cadence is smooth as silk. This reminds me of envisioning moments to come with a long distance lover. Their smile carries you through the day. Thanks for sharing, I see it has been awhile. :)
