Look behind you

By devilsrighthand

When we think we're alone,
We're far from it.

They watch you, you know.
They always watch you.

They lurk in the shadows of your own home,
Places the light doesn't reach.

Sometimes you see them in your peripheral vision,
But you just dismiss them.

They are what you hear when you awake to a strange noise,
Confused and afraid.

You know they're there,
But you don't want to believe it.

They move around you while you sleep,
Touching you, with their freezing, dead hands.

When your back is turned to them,
They move closer... Slowly...

Their muffled footsteps barely make a sound,
But loud enough for you to hear.

For all they're really doing there,
Is feeding on your fears.
