Hindsight

By SickSanityJenn

Memories they haunt
Whispering in the night
Twisting my reality
The ghosts of hindsight

Innumerable mistakes
I can't seem to forget
So unable to forgive
Riddled with regret

Relentlessly self aware
Every move scrutinized
There is no escape
From the restless inner eye

Belittled by myself
Such bitter thoughts
No room for happiness
Broken and distraught

The memories they haunt
Tortured late at night
This accursed awareness
The ghosts of hindsight
