Don't know what to call it

How did we manage to veer so far off course?
We traded the horse for the horseless carriage.
Now we enforce same sex marriage?
We used to stretch their necks.
Now we cash their checks while we stretch our imaginations.
We used to kiss the bride.
Now we kiss the groom.
Twice.
I wonder.
Do they still throw rice?
