-My Mistakes-

By infinitebeing

Its hard to beinspired
with conflicting thoughts of whats ahead
and with all that has transpired
my old lifestyle is gone and dead
in the blink of an eye, lifes changed
for the better or worse, God knows
my idea of normal, rearranged
to days of highs and lows
this isnt where i belong
im sure ill never fit in
you succumb to their idea of right and wrong
and its up to you to choose to listen
you can hold on to your life
or you can choose to throw it away
it can cut you like a knife
or you can catch each breeze thrown your way
one day of a chance taken
reverts into a grave mistake
forcing me to awaken
whats to be done now that im awake?
Push forward, persevere, and keep hope
not forgetting where my heart is placed
experimenting with new ways to cope
understanding my past is erased

My mistakes arent who i am.

this is so awesome, to hear you let go of a life that seemed like maybe it was fun and friends and addiction. its a lifestyle. and it sounds like you are done. and that's an excellent achievement. I hope you never look back with that desire and fire to use. just keep walking, in fact run....run with your dreams. your young and beautiful, you deserve the best, and only you can change that. I wish you luck on your road to recovery. or should I say, welcome to your new life! your awesome and inspiring. great poem!
