Elemental

By Diabolical Incantations

Pentagram is set,
dark sacrament begun,
invocation of powers
from the abyss.

Portal is open,
a wide invitation.
Inter-planar transverse
of beckoned blackness.

Slight flaw.
Lost control of those in thrall.
The call of the portal,
reaching far to wickedest entities.

Red lady steps through,
no terror to behold,
not of this deceitful form.

Transfiguration,
jackal comes forth,
layer upon layer of illusion,
imagery borne.

Substanceless,
Remorseless,
malevolent mass of chaos, malice, and pretense.

I like the shorter stanzas in this one that move the poem even more rapidly for the reader, and my favorite line is "lost control of those in thrall" - because that's where the work climaxes.
