Ambrosio

By Diabolical Incantations

Messenger of god, what do you dream?
Are they words of His or of your own?
Of your desires or of your faith?
Are you giving in to thoughts of lust?
What will you do to quench that thirst?
What other sins will you commit?
Minister, why don't you practice what you preach?
Ambrosio, how far you fall.

Covetous, you crave the flesh
of the innocent and the beauteous
that prey upon your blind, vain pride,
your hidden sins long set in stone.
You prey, in turn, upon the children
of your God with fresh abandon,
taking what you want to satisfy your lust.

Ambrosio,
how far you fall.
By letting go
you forsake it all.
Where do you go?
You should know too well.
Ambrosio,
you're going to hell.

Then I got to the second stanza and it was mind blowing. "Covetous?" "crave?" "pride?" "vanity?" All of the seven sins, are so well reflected here. "How far you fall," and "abandon" are so telling of the sin inside of us, how no one is holy . . . not really. Finally, the title AMBROSIO. I have to admit that the etymology of the word is lost on me. I do know of a kind of fruit salad and a Victoria's Secret model that both bear the name, but I don't believe either pertains to your work. I suppose the name "Ambrosio" is used fictitiously, but either way I really enjoyed this one.

Thank you :-) Ambrosio is the name of 'The Monk' in Lewis's novel, I find the name evokes an image of a very pious man and so sets him quite high ready for a huge plummet through morality. Think maybe this is what Lewis had in mind when naming him.
