Child of the Wild

By devilsrighthand

The sinking dread of deepest sorrows
Pulling on my thick black chain
Trying to leach me the courage that I borrow
But all it does is bring more pain

When I look into the light
Falling into the darkest cave
Staring so intently at it, bright white
But none of these thoughts can make me behave

For I’m the child disowned at birth
Mindless, unloved attention seeking child
Desperate child, unable to be girthed
I am,
the child of the wild
