farewell father,...

By sea of sorrow

have you ever watched someone, dying in pain
see them tighten up, and strain
the painful empty glaze, in there eyes
showing of there soon demise
clawing at the bed side,
till nails half break,
knowing exactly, what's at stake
tears hit the pillow and floor,
while shrieks of agony, fill the room
every heart's heavy with impending doom

their, lies your hero,
their lies, a piece of you
the strongest man, i've ever known
shriveled up, like a grape in august

inside, i couldn't cry,
i hugged him, gave him his final prayer to GOD,..
and said goodbye,...
the look in his eyes, when i was done
said , it's over, thoe, the battle was not won
that final glance, is stitched to my soul
reminding me one day, i'll pay my toll
until that day, i'll be here
holding on to that hero, i held dear
farewell father,...

I didn't look up to him but it's still a sorrow that festers inside watching a man's fatal down fall. I too wrote a poem for him. This is a great somewhat release from that pain, good write.
