thinking ahead (i think)

By tallygrowsome

I saw a man praying for his unborn child
and tried to put it in a way my mind could understand
(if you believe, hats off, you're lucky
with that kind of moral high ground
instead of being on a tightrope
like the rest of us.)
so i imagined a man at a desk
transferring money into his future child's account.
for college, if he was a good parent,
and if he was a bad one, for therapy.

We raise a child well or don't, and they, in return, make mistakes and successes which shape their own realities. Ultimately we walk alone.
