Candle

By Dreamscape

Just a soft kiss away from deception

Just a touch away from a candle

Burned my fingers touching you gently

I guess I should’ve been a little more gentle

Just a headache away from a prescription

Just a promise away from a lie

Filled the holes in my heart with illusions

As I watched the wax drip from your eyes

Just a tear away from depression

Just a bullet away from a doom

Broke my back trying to carry your insults

And now I’m stuck in a hospital room

Just a craving away from an addiction

Just a secret away from a scratch

Cut my tongue on your sharp edged confessions

I guess I never should have lit that match
