You Left Me

By DavidVale

As daylight ends, I come to thee
For I’ve missed you long and terribly
Your sinful hands and gingerbread tea
Could we forget the world and just be?

We share the darkness, its only light
Shines from dozens of flickering candles
The world is at peace as we hold on tight
Time to learn of each other and entangle

Your eyes grow heavy, you drift at last
To a slumber so peacefully deep
While I am still here as minutes pass
Because you left me alone without sleep
