deployed
By Grey Lies
the familiar whistle that drags the air out of your lungs
time
is ticking over there
but here it is
irrelevant.
a
ding, a flash of hope
only a blinking
cursor.
the
sand covers your body
creating sand castles
and motes.
you walk miles on a freedom road
shackled to an oathÂ
you
have almost
forgotten.
in the sand castle orphans live--
tiny limbs hold your hand
you drag them away.
you count
the days when you can return
to the home that never wanted you
BOOM
the whistle.
the flash.
the
sand.
the orphans.

When I was a small child, I was somewhere in china when tear gas was dropped on the city I was visiting it was horrible. I can only imagine what it must be to be in the middle of a war's conflict. I feel the hurt and pain in this.

Deep. not much to comment, as this was solid. I sensed themes of time and war; care to elaborate?
