Destruction's hope

By Undertaker

Stumbling through a world launched in ciaos
Each pathway surrounded, battles,.. deaths bitter win, bloody losses

A man, thought not to have a heart, Staggers bitterly down a  blank road
These yellow eyes watch from a distance, The gate keeper, his past grips hold

If only some knew the slaughter this man has seen.
Starting to fall, rocks slice, as he hits his knees

Fighting for breath, Eyes filling with tears
The lives he’s taken, screaming echo’s in his ears.

A short while, with the passing of  time
Struggles to his feet, shattered  heart, full of crime

Keep walking, whispers through his head
Why wasn’t it me? I’m the one that should be dead

Noises present from the distance
A young child, this is known, that instant

A city rampaged by war with no other souls around
Slowly collapsing to the ground

This man, thought once not to have a heart
Walks her way, She isn’t very far

She cries out screaming for her parents
Kneeling down, hug’s her, making hope apparent

Slowly once again returns to his feet
Stretches fourth a hand, she takes hold, smiling he says walk with me

Nothing but torment, destruction, and death lies ahead
But now a new pathway never to be mislead

Clutch this bond, let it take hold
a new chance and story to be told

That was an amazing read. Thank you Undertaker for posting that, the ending is what makes it wonderful. I've heard the hopeless questioning of soldiers wondering why they be spared, but adding the hope of something possibly beautiful - 2 people finding each other can help each other find answers or at least solace in a world of violence and chaotic carnage...beautiful - XXOO Scholar
