High School Math

By daiglepoems

I thought that I was special.
Find some way to work it out,
but hanging on to hopefulness
only harbors doubt.

I thought the world owed me.
That it would quench my thirst
but the only thing it showed me
was which one of us got here first.

I relied upon my friends
'til they began to laugh.
Subtracted most of them.
Multiiplied the rest by half.

Those footprints on the ceiling
had left me unprepared
and instilled in me the feeling
that they led to stupid squared.

I went back to the drawing board.
Examined the equation.
Action over apathy
cancels out evasion

with a positive result.
Once again I'm he who hath.
Just needed a quick consult
with some high school math.
