The Far Side of the Moon
By daiglepoems
An angel winged godess
with rainbows in her hair.
Her face,
her form,
flawless.
It seemed she walked on air.
I fell for her right there.
Though not what I intended,
if it never ended,
it still would be too soon.
My love for her extended
to the far side of the moon.
We were picture perfect lovers.
I harbored not a doubt.
It was underneath her covers
I learned what love's about.
I knew when we came out
We would always be together.
We could handle stormy weather.
The furies of tornado or typhoon.
Even if it blew us
To the far side of the moon.
But I took some things for granted.
Our love sustained attack.
What I thought was firmly planted
started seeping through a crack
until one day she turned her back.
Instead of her I had my eyes on
happenings on nigh horizon.
Tales of ages past lost gold dabloon.
Of legends of what lies
on the far side of the moon.
Now she's gone, forever.
Her perfect form and face.
In a million years I'd never
be able to replace.
Gone.
Without a trace
is the girl who gave life meaning.
Who scaffolded my leaning,
my careening off the walls in some saloon.
Or one of many beer halls
on the far side of the moon?
I had the perfect girl
now all I have is all alone.
In my kingdom I'm was Earl
of an abdicated throne.
Just a dog without a bone.
I had my chance and blew it.
Rather die than suffer through it,
but I lack the balls to do it,
hence this tune,
'bout a dark and lonely place
called the far side of the moon.
My world's been undone
by the girl I used to kiss.
I wish I had a gun
but if I did I'd probably miss.
Can't believe it's come to this.
So I lay awake nights scheming,
my racing thoughts just teaming
of ways to fill a gleaming silver spoon
to resume my wasted dreaming
of the far side of the moon.

beautiful build and structure, and refreshingly concise measure. Despair not, you shall find another.

not many can pull off rhyming this well and get their point across.. and once again, your ending is spot on.. wraps it up perfectly..

Tragic lost love. I think a lot of us have been in a situation similar to this. Thank you for sharing your feelings.
