Big Dogs

By daiglepoems

Thought I was rough and tough.
That life would offer me
a chance to strut my stuff.
An opportunity

to roll with the Big Dogs.
If I'd just bide my time.
'stead I'm swimming with the polliwogs.
Mired in the grime.

The scenic route to nowhere.
Gets you nowhere super fast.
God made me an untrue square.
Broke the dye as I was cast.

Now that age has slowed me down
I've finally come to see
that rollin' with the Big Dogs
an impossibility.

But I don't waste my time
wallowing in sorrow
for one can never tell
what might pop up tomorrow.

These 'Big Dogs' are a curious metaphor- It can be anything. Correct, nice rhymes here.
