I am Not the Speaker of this Poem

By Virgils Vigil

I am merely

A Fragment
A Shade

A Critique

A shallow voice in the distance.

I do not represent

Anything

But a ghost

Born of an idea

Born of will

To mediate a transition to

The New Flesh

In The Flesh

Contrived by Flesh

For The Flesh

But only A Shadow

Born of will

And Solitude

An external force

On an internal world

Imbalances

Displaced

Disturbance

Alarmed

An Atrocity

By will of madness

By sheer pain of thought

For the somber sake of

Release

Good point that we often overlook when we place the poet inside his piece, erroneously, as though the work was the person.
