You can never Leave

By Dethuntillite

Long has it been
So much time elapsed since feelings of tears
The falling of rain without respite
Cascading over hazel eyes

Departed tenacity long since replaced
Noticeable movement towards resolving despair
Gentle hills evolving into unscalable mountains
Perceptive aggression serving no sense

Cowering defeat accepted in fetal positions
Downward glaces focused thru faltering eyes
No relating inside screaming maelstroms
Howling winds masking all forms of reluctance

Prices paid for such a beautiful nightmare
Saved light traded away for well worn melancholy
Watching hopeful faces beaten for their lovely visions
Lips increasingly twisted in the voyeurism of a downfall

"hopeful faces beaten for their lovely visions" - terrific line and a well wrought piece about sinking more deeply into despair.
