Guilt

By HadassahDare

I carry the dead with me everywhere I go.
They live under my skin,
tucked away safe and warm.
I keep them with me, always, to remind me of my mistakes.

Every time I open my eyes I see their faces,
haunting my every breath and I can't live without them anymore.

Some days I want to run, to escape but no matter where I go,
they follow, buried deep in my skin.
The guilt lives within them,
draining all that I have.
