Sunset Evergrey
By alesana
black and white
made out of fragile cardboard pieces
staircase
paradox 'round and down
gravity twisting and bending
cracked
as Norman Bates
connecting and breaking and joining again
split
in the middle sewn at the top
dichotomy of agonised screams
silent
deliverance
there's blood on the curtain
and shadows in the
halls
hollow bones on fire
empty soul aflame
heart and mind
iced like wedding cake
dripping and melting on hot summer days
construction paper doesn't stand up
well against a wrecking ball
this sickening ghost town
crumbling under clouds of dust
ever
ashen Vesuvius buried
barren unto horizons grey
and so this
day the sun will set
upon this dreary life.

Like the imagery of "bones on fire and souls aflame" - must have been a bitch to live in Pompeii, hey?
