Broken dreams

By kenneth

I have an open mind
As I gaze straight ahead
What I feel I must find
I might get before I’m dead

I hold high my lowly dreams
Reaching up toured the sky
Ill never get them it seems
Perhaps ill watch them die

I hold deep within my heart
Intolerable burning passion
Everything will fall apart
Leaving only my obsession

My want, my need, my lust
Burning a hole through my soul
I am the only one I don’t trust
I feel that I could lose control

I hear a voice whispering in my ear
It is such a beautiful voice
Uttering the words I feel I must hear
I should ignore it but this is my choice

I hear the footsteps coming nearer
My hearts rapid beat with excitement
This longing within is torture
The voice has become my torment

I see a vision within my mind
The one thing of which I desire
Perhaps my dream ill never find
I feel that soon ill have to retire

Perhaps ill give up on my little quest
What is there left for me to do
Ill watch this dream shatter like all the rest
Everything broken and nothing left for you

Aw, you know you won't give up now. We all need to be tortured by something from time to time.
