I'm Fine
By Ashes the Emo Fae
She sits in the back of the class
Smiling but never saying a word
Making her look like a pane of glass
No one ever asked and never guessed
She tried to look her best
So no one would ever know
The stains and cuts that never show
In her dark world
No one knows about
It’s a quiet place
Where she can scream and shout
The world can’t hurt her
No words could scar her skin
As she whispers in the night
"I’m fine, don’t cry
Don’t even ask me why
The words in my wrists don’t mean
A thing to you
So please don’t worry about me
I’ll be fine"
Nobody even knew
About the day she flew
She made sure that she fell all alone
So that they wouldn’t know
And so nobody cried
Because no one knew
She was even there…
So that day, the funeral came
It was school, nearly the same
Not many people showed up to mourn
Except one boy who cried a storm
He held a note that said
"I’m fine…don’t cry
Don’t even ask me why
The blood on my wrists
Don’t mean a thing to you
So please don’t worry about me
I’ll be fine"
So he sat on the edge of the cliff
He smiled at the sky with a little sniff
“Hey babe I hope you can hear me”
“I’ll be joining you soon”
His parent tried to talk him out of it
He simply shook his head
And smiled…
"I’m fine, don’t…cry
Don’t even ask me why…
The tears in my eyes
Don’t mean a thing to me
Please…listen to me
Just do this for me
Don’t worry…
I’ll be fine…"
