Impossible Understanding

By pureevil8

From within the swirling mists of my mind,

I engulf myself in visions I've construed,

I dwell within the world I've created,

Carrying my sorrows by and by,

So diligently questing for an escape

I've wrapped myself in much confusion,

Constructing a wall to keep others out,

Always staying true to my destiny,

Swallowing mouthfuls of the pains I see,

Until my stomach explodes from gluttony.

What sort of creature have I become?

That which your children awake in screams of fear,

That thing in the darkness everyone fears,

That which has no name or face,

That creature which brings people to tears,

I see this every time I close my eyes,

All those lost hopes,

All the innocence that dies,

All those feelings that no one could cope.

Oh how hard I try,

Time and time again,

To gain some sort of control,

To get a grip on my mind,

But to no avail are my efforts.

I can only learn tolerance,

Since I know there is no escape,

And patiently await the next journey
