true origin of the ABCs
By SeekingNirvana
This is the story of a fellow called Tim.
He knows the alphabet,
it was wirtten by him.
Not the letters, for that is a laugh.
Nay, he wrote the song
And ole’ Tim wrote it fast
The idea did come, come came it once did,
A quill and parchment he took and he said
“I’ll write a tune, a poem, a song.
To help young ones remember the alphabet long.”
And so that he did. Did it he did then.
And then he did know, about the ball pointed pen.
“My toils my troubles! All done in vain.
For this instrument here, does not tear my grain.”
And so it was done. The jingle, I mean
Old Tim had it finished, so began to sing
From A until Z, the song was alright
The part unrelated was cheerful and bright
You see ole Tim was a poet as well
‘Z’ rhymed with ‘me’ and ‘C’ sounded swell
“Now I’ve sung my ‘ABCs’,
next time won’t you sing with me?”
