Set The Whale Free

By Kittykat

The Whale

I saw a whale trapped in a tank
The sight was sad indeed
TheĀ message in his eyes was clear
Please come and set me free.

Compared to the ocean
Thier aquarium was a joke
Trapping a sonic creature there
To entertain the folks.

A commotion started within the crowd
There were bleachers to take a seat
Before I new what was going to happen
The whale did tricks for his meat.

How can people be so self serving
Because they want a show
Tears came to my eyes
As I screamed, let him go.

People just stared as if I'd lost my mind
They didn't seem to understand
Whales were meant to inhabit the ocean
Thier entrapment should be banned.

The show continued on and on
As a trainer rode his back
Oh how happy the crowd was then,
How I wished he would attack.

The lack of knowledge is the problem
Cause whales mate for life
They live in families just like us
Unlike humans, they have no rights

I stood at the window underground,
The whale swam up to the glass
The fin on his back was folded over
Enough swimming room he didn't have

Money is the cause of his sorrow
Something he will never know
Stuck in an amusement park
The attraction in a show

Looking in his eyes I saw such sorrow,
It's his right to be in the ocean free
Insead of paying money there
Why not sailĀ  the ocean, where he's suppose to be

Stop paying money to see a whale
Trapped in a money pit
Then the torture will have to stop
When we stop funding this.

I've never been to one of these shows but have seen whales out in the ocean and it is in fact a beautiful thing. The things we do for entertainment. A sad read.
