Even still…

By brokenbandagedbetter

After the years have come and gone
After the beatings were stopped with a Divorce Decree
And the ink has dried

The fear remains
The fear remains
The fear remains

Each time I am forced to face him

The butterflies come
Like a tumbleweed of motion

My hands start to tremble
Like a personal earthquake

My heart beats so hard
It can be heard for miles

Sweat breaks out
Like condensation on a window pane

The fear remains
The fear remains
The fear remains

How can I survive the remaining 8 years of court ordered confrontations?

When the butterflies intrude

The shaking takes over

The bass drum rocks my body from within

The sweat surges from every pore

And the fear remains
The fear remains
The fear remains
