Modern Day Havisham

By Vampixie

I was never more than a toy to you.
A jilted lover - the modern-day Havisham -
still wearing my metaphorical wedding dress,
in case you ever come back.
You won't, though.
The wedding dress yellows with
age and abandonment;
you don't want it now.
There's something more beautiful you want.
I take the wedding dress off,
hang it in the back of a cupboard,
to be forgotten.
I'll never wear it again.
