Gun Lovers Anonymous
By Soldier Of Silence
Infatuated with cold steel
Nickel plated fantasies
Shiny metal casings and
A seductive recoil
A thunderous boom
Echoes through the chamber
Rocking my very existence
Exciting my nerves
Slinging metal and lead
A tiny grin
Plays across my lips
As I lock and load again
Peppering the target
Colorful spots
Like blossoming flowers
Pop into sight
One by one
Little messengers
Erupt from the tip
Saying hello upon contact
Clings and clangs
Like a symphony
Of violence
Dance around my feet
Gunpowder residue
Splashes my face
While spent casings
Sprinkle my wake
Little rooster-tails
Of brass eject from
My instrument of death
Little periods at the end of life
Exploding gases
Paint a fiery portrait
At the end of my barrel
As I devastate my target
A wall of steel
Created in seconds
By the wrath of one
Determined soul and his weapon
This one is my own
An extension of me
A reflection of my enduring
Will to survive and push on
The last will and testament
Of an indomitable soldier
Who knows no defeat
But only victory
Feeding this machine
One magazine at a time
A hungry beast of steel
Forged for battle
There are many like it
All shapes and sizes
Belonging to warriors
Of equal skill and mind
Hell bent on annihilation
And the taming of nations
Who own inferior products
Of destructive force
But will never truly coexist
With their chosen instrument
Without truly knowing
Its full potential
Because I’ll slay them
Before they have the chance
Like the right hand of God
An Angel of Death
Sworn to protect and defend
And wreak havoc
Given the word
From a higher power
This is for you my friend
My inanimate partner
Given life through my hands
And ending life through the same

Both a style and subject I've never seen, or at least not like this. You have my top criteria for a good writer; originality. I'll be watching for more sir.

I love the title and the words really grip the rough exterior that this poem creates. I enjoyed your language and the intensity of this. Outstanding job.

The way your voice is uniquely a soldier's is something that I can really appreciate. The depths you describe are things I can only imagine a soldier has to endure and it humbles me. That and the skill of your articulation. This was wonderful. Thank you for sharing and thank you for serving as well!

Truly a complement coming from you. Big fan of your work. Perhaps you are my venomous seduction. Your work inspires some twisted thoughts in my distorted mind.
