Salt Water Brain Damage

By Soldier Of Silence

Wading into the deep blue,
Arms sore and my body aches,
Beaten by salt water dreams,
Perfect sets bring me home.

Drifting with the current,
Waiting for my ride,
Soggy from the fight,
Prospect lies in the wake.

Laying low and pulling hard,
A gentle hand offers me sanctuary,
Accelerating to my destination,
So close but still so far.

I hit the shore,
My board digs into the sand,
I catapult to the ground,
And smash my head on a door jam.

Where’d that come from?

I wake up on my couch,
Drenched in sweat,
Premonition or revelation,
Get my ass on my feet.

I walk to the bathroom,
Groggy from the afternoon nap,
And slip on the wood floor,
To smack into the door jam.

Fuck, that’s what it meant!

Very fun read. I can't help but think of surfing reading this. Though that is all I usually think of during summer. Anyways, great job.
