Patriot Lies

By Soldier Of Silence

Words to envy,
Words to live by,
Blood of patriots,
Blood of tyrants,
Sheep we all are.

Cloaked by patriotism,
Nationalistic minds collide,
Overwhelm and destroy,
Preaching peace and promising destruction,
Our leaders are frauds.

Innocent are dying,
The rich get richer,
For what do we fight,
Our motherland rots and decays,
And we do nothing.

Unsheathe the dagger of truth,
Your leaders are tyrants,
Their plans are sinister,
Their wallets grow fatter,
Our minds are poisoned by hate.

Fuel the war feed the pigs,
Hunt the convicts not the Christians,
Bleed the guilty save the clean,
Stand for your liberties,
Or sit in fear and erode in your homes.

Your right to abolish amend renew,
Given by the blood of better men,
Sealed in their eternal fate,
Entombed by the grace of God,
And there are those who spit on them.

Resurrect your fallen soldiers,
In heart and soul,
And damn those who desecrate,
The memories of true Patriots,
Whose sacrifices have been tread on,
By Patriot Lies.

It was more of a reference to add to the "clean" feeling you get when you think of religion. I know throughout history Christians and Catholics, hell all religions have gotten a bad rep, but the next line sealed my point. "bleed the guilty save the clean" It's kind of hard to pin point one honest group of people because I don't believe they exist. I believe that a "true" Christian would technically be a 'clean' soul. But as poetry goes, it's open for interpretation.
