A Journey following the sun

By Mithiras

The men gathered around the high mast
their hearts were proud, their heads held fast
to the west their journey goes
onward to the land of unknown

All were young, but all were strong
warriors and soldiers looking for something new
searching for a land where they belong
they push off the dock and head out into the blue

The sea is hard and a harsh place to be
for someone who is weak of heart
but these warriors were experienced with the sea
and they held her close like a naval chart

day after day, week after week, there was nothing left to eat
they starved, they thirst, they prayed for mercy
"landa!" a man cried, the rest got to their feet
The Gods answered them and gave them mercy

Vineland, the leader called the place
green were its lands and had plenty of space
the journey following the sun is now over
but the searching of the land unknown has just begun
