To Pieces

By brainbent

How I long for the peace of the dead.
My heart falls as if pieces of lead.
No more agony today.
All the pain runs away.
The ghosts abandon my head.

A piece of the peace of the dead.
In the works of the words we have said.
The world careens on.
The nights growing long.
The beast, she has to be fed.

Peace to my pieces of heart.
As they slowly tumble apart.
A piece of my shattering mind.
The peace that I cannot find.
A piece that was gone at the start.

Just a bit of peace in the least.
Must it belong to all those deceased.
Weary are my tears.
Exhausted is my fear.
Yet lengthy is my longing for peace.
