The Lady of the Lake

By Guttercat

Beneath ‘tis starlit night of nights
I hum a song of longing
Mezzo concerto, a cricket’s chirp
Adds counterpoint to my yearning

A heartbeat, shush, a heart’s beat
Lacustrine, above my murmurings
I felt its gentle thump so soft
An angel’s wing caressing
