Look where we are, 10 years later.

By lstdarkness

-for Tara-

{I remember.}

It was the summer of Œ97,
I first tasted the sweetness
of your lips. A week of
holding hands, whispering,
it was so innocent then.

(I never forgot.}

Then you were
gone. Separated, 10 years
of bullshit relationships and
lies. I told them I loved,
I thought I did,
fuck, was I wrong.

{I Love.}

I never forgot your
smiling face. Longing to taste
you again. Even
as I kissed her, you would
invade my mind a living memory
that would not fade.

{I wanted.}

I never thought now,
I would be laying
by your side. Talking for hours,
wanting to change the demons,
in my past. They try
to suck me back into the years
of self-abuse.

{I survived.}

The whirlwind
of drugs and violence was
the passion of my life.
Now, as I feel
your hand grasp
tightly within mine,
Something so new, yet so familiar,
to hold on to.
I never forgot the way
your lips taste.

{for you.}
