Poem by Katherine Wood

By Berry Fantastic

She's tired of being there
But not being seen
Of all those feelings for him
And low self-esteem

She slashes her wrists
Again and once more
The knife in her hand
She's come to adore

She tries to respond
But cannot speak out
Her heart is now frozen
From years of self-doubt

Suicide is painless
It is only life that hurts
She pressed the blade against her skin
And watched the blood come up in spurts

Crimson liquid pulse
Spilled and stained the floor
She smiled at death
Her hurt was no more
