Campus on the Bay

By alesana

smooth green velvet by the water
deceptive winds crawling up the shore
red leaves like tassels on twigs
over the bay a tin foil sheet
silver and shining and searing the eyes
golden refuge amid the flowers
which lie in sadness and despair
to suffer through the winter's wrath
only to witness the warmth of spring

Great imagery. Wondering about green velvet water and then a tin foil bay shortly thereafter, perhaps a conflict here? Or maybe just me, thanks.

on the water is a phrase usually meaning "next to the water" tin foil sheet is just the sun's reflection across the bay
