Campus on the Bay

smooth green velvet by the water
deceptive winds crawling up the shore
red leaves like tassels on twigs
over the bay a tin foil sheet
silver and shining and searing the eyes
golden refuge amid the flowers
which lie in sadness and despair
to suffer through the winter's
wrath
only to witness the warmth of spring
