The purpose of this cabal is to provide realistic cunstructive criticism to its members, by its members.
Anyone can apply.
(It is not required but in order to show you are genuinely interested in constructive comments, it would be great to leave a few example comments on some posts before applying)
How it works:
Choose a member and read one of their posts, and to the best of your ability provide insightful feedback on the poem. (Such as what needs improvement, technical assessment, vocabulary advice, overall feel) and then the member who received your comment will comment back on one of your posts. Returning comments is essential. If you do not return comments when you receive them, people will cease to comment on your posts and eventually you may be removed from the cabal.
If you would like a specific poem reviewed either dpmail a group member requesting their critique, or post on the cabal forum.
We may run contests from time to time.
A few rules:
Being aggressive or rude is not permitted, this cabal is for constructive criticism and self improvement, it's not a roasting cabal.
Targeting members by consistently giving negative comments that have no advice for improvement, are not allowed (Such as simply saying "This poem is bad. Do better.")
Simple praise comments are really frowned upon. If you don't have any advice to give on a post, find a different one.
If you have a particularly harsh comment that you worry might be offensive (while still being constructive and polite) to the writer, dp mailing them in private is recommended.
If you have questions about a comment left, if there is something you don't understand and don't want to make it public, dp mail is suggested. Another option would be the cabal forum.
The rules are very basic. We simply expect common decency, and respectful behavior.
