  • "Hope you remember me - this is Col aka Shadow Rapture/Magic Hatter/Zebra Warrior. 4 years is an incredibly long time to be absent from a poetry website; but in all that time I haven't forgotten you and what impact you first made over 5 years ago (!!) when you were the precocious talent that burst upon the scene here when I first joined. Since then like Troy (Equinox Ayslum) you've been more of a ghost than anything and I've often wondered what happened to you, but felt it was probably fruitless to mssg you as I had convinced myself you probably wouldn't come here and read it. That you were gone 'for good'. So it's quite the revelation to see you post a poem after such a lengthy lay-off and again, like Troy not sure if it's just another fleeting moment in time or if it's the rekindling of a flame. I hope the latter, as I really felt a strong connection to your poetry; the way you thought and they way you composed and I'd be totally delighted to see you as the artist you are make something of a "comeback". Please mssg me when you read this, I have something I wish to ask you. And why apologising? This is a fine poem, it reads from the here & now and summarises where you're at in your life. You must be what...18/19 now? (Hope that's right?!?!?!). So yes....excellent - please mssg me soon!! "

I enjoyed it immensely; great effort"

  • "simultaneously, I get excited and disappointed when you post a poem online - excited to read something new; something fresh - and feel the essence of your poetry, the words of you coming through....and disappointed because, you're so elusive a character; so non-prolific a poster; I never know if this is the start of something or just a cameo appearance....one min you're here; next you're confined to the shadows. And it's because I enjoy your writing; your poetry that I feel conflicted this way....almost angry, like I want to selfishly shake you and yell "WRITE WRITE AND SHARE SHARE....YOU BASTARD!!!" Hah - but I'm too polite to do this! :P Besides...you're about 10 ft taller than me...I wouldn't want to antagonise you too much!! But on a slightly more serious note....it's a treat to read something 'new' (is it even new...?!), or at the very least, new to me......and so for that I thank you....there was a kind of spacey feel to this; a philosophically drawn take on life and your subjectivity of thought over that time-plain; you master melancholy well and give it deep yet creative resonance.....if only we'd had you for a bit longer; the best ones are always the furthest away it would seem......be well man; message me if you're going to be around ......even if it's for a bit! Best wishes...Col :D"

  • "the real fear for us for our children of course, is them becoming exposed to a world we have no control over....potential threats like rapists, killers, sociopaths, moralless beings...muggers and much worse. These are the stuff true nightmares are made of; not Hollywood or other such media...."

  • "my fear came from the unknown too...and being exposed to the movie 'Halloween' aged 10 - convinced Michael Myers was going to be in my wardrobe or under the bed that night! Very afraid to sleep that night!! Psychology is the key...imprinting a thought in your mind; that can't be shaken off. No one can live their lives without fear....the imagination of everyone is different but in mine I was able to turn the tables....what fears possessed me or were felt by me were expressed in my writing and attempts to exorcise that way. Well conjured, I can 'relate' to this poem as people would say; most definitely. Bravo mate..."
