A Meek Reply to a Night Under the Stars

By Ocean of Truth

The smell of stale smoke has never seemed so perfect
The aroma of liquors and bar food linger in the air

-Stuffed animals and Lottery Tickets-

The Jukebox begins its nightly play list
Hard rock and old school metal
Followed by our favorite love songs

-There’s no one watching-

Drug from my warm barstool
Entranced by the look in your eyes
And the soft curves of your face

-I can’t dance-

As we move slightly to the music
No one seems to notice us at center stage
Is it bliss or perfection?
We stand together in our perfect utopia
Your gaze holding me ever-so steady

-Perfect Silence-

We retreat silently back to our seats
Hearts still beat rapidly from the ecstasy of the moment passed

-Time to leave-

One step into the chill night air, and one look from those eyes
I can’t help but gasp for air as your words remove the air from my lungs

-I love you-

A look into the perfect night sky, stars blazing,
Adds the perfect touch to the night
How many perfect memories have we had under these identical skies?

-Another perfect night under the stars-
