.It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived

On this day we honor those who we have lost
Words they spoke before they left never to be lost
In a land not known to the world
They fought for each and every one of us
Day by day night by night
Their mission remained the same
Regardless who was to place the blame
Still they fought of the tedious strain of home sickness and death
Each one of their fallen comrades they will never forget
When the flag was at half staff they all wept
A loss for one is a loss for all
Through the darkest of days their will was the same
To make sure others lived to see the sun of another day
Their bond grew every day as the day gave away to pale moon light
In this barren desert land
Through the shifting sands they fought on
When one of their brothers was hit
The cold truth suddenly hit
Falling back to their comrades side
With each moment he struggled to survive
As they gathered around his side
They all silently tried their hardest not to cry
He asked with his last breath his final message home to be
Carried home and to never forget him
As he drew in his final breath
The emotion that this was the end
Caused them to fall to their knees
Asking why not me
As this night began to un fold
A story was being told
As the night passed they boarded the plane
To finally return home at last
At their brothers funeral
They gathered one last time
To say their final good byes
Never forgetting the promise to deliver his message home
As they knocked on his family’s door
They told his family that he served with the best
Brothers in arms during his final test
He wanted them to know to move along
With their lives just hold the memory deep inside
To never forget him as the days go by
As they slowly left
The memory’s they will never forget
Together they all know
The brothers who remained
Delivered his final message home
