Null and Void

By drop dead des

An empty promise is a funny thing
So full of confidence as it slips off your tongue
It knows its way to me
I'm sure it's been down this road before

It creeps into my defiant ear
"I promise..."
The words resound throughout my skull
As if you were screaming into the abyss of my soul

For a moment I almost believe
Until I look into your eyes
And see my own doubt reflected back to me
Where is your confidence now?

It seems you can't even fool yourself anymore
From the moment those words leave your lips
You know they are no longer true
They're just empty words for an empty girl

Simple and yet very poetic. I am interested to see what else is to come from you. ~T
