Horizontal Apocalypse

By cyan9

Sunset reversed while the moon rehearsed,
Practiced movement for a part that never came.
Division began on the horizon,
Horizontal lines of the sky and Earth evanesce.

Fog caressed tree and mist danced in the breeze,
Drained from pea soup to stark white,
Drained now from all but pure light.

Earth vibrated with smooth rhythmic tone
Skies separated, lightning stroked down
The abyss between air and ground.

Colours melded as the void extended,
Visions blurred and faint cries of apocalypse heard.

Darkness was presumed to ensue,
And you will stand there frozen,
You will stand there and forget your love of you.
