Pitter Patter

By Bellezza

quietly she sits and waits
to take her solemn place in line
waiting for the one she loves
only to fall slowly behind

she wears her face calmly
outlasting a chance that is overdue
her heart beats pitter patter
awaiting her magical rendezvous

patience turns bitter
when her mask begins to subside
bursting on the interior
yet still slightly content on the outside

now the hair is down, and the mask is off
and our girl has fallen deep in love
pitter patters and patter pitters
feelings she has been all but void of

breathing heavy she stands up tall
to take her walk of death
it's do or die to love forever
she gulps and breathes her final breath

words are spoken soft and quick
in beat with her pitter patter heart
tears fall from her unmerciful failure
she sits and begins once more from the start

Ah, the great romantic cycle. I like what you've written about such an inspirational topic.
